Regenerative Therapy Deerfield
Encouraging New Tissue Growth & Healthy Teeth
Typically, root canals involve the complete removal of the infected pulp within a tooth, which is a collection of soft tissues and nerves. This is an important part of your tooth, and in an effort to save it from worsening infection or tooth loss, we sometimes need to remove it completely and replace it with a putty to restore its structure. Regenerative endodontic treatments in Deerfield take the science of preserving smiles to the next level by allowing us to restore the health and function of damaged pulp instead of needing to remove it. How Does Regenerative Endodontics Work?

As touched on above, regenerative endodontics is a series of treatment methods we can use to restore the health of your soft tissues and nerves within your affected tooth. This replaces the need to rebuild the area with a putty that’s not alive for functional purposes. To help improve the health of your natural tooth pulp, we may recommend one or both of these regenerative therapies:
Vital Pulp Therapy

In cases where the pulp of your tooth is still living, but damaged, we may recommend vital pulp therapy. In order for this treatment to be successful, it’s important that the affected tooth isn’t severely damaged, is receiving good blood flow, and the supportive hard and soft tissues around it are healthy. The goal of the treatment is to repair and preserve the pulp tissue by placing a protective material over it, followed by a dental restoration.
Revascularization

Revascularization is another form of regenerative endodontics that’s typically performed on immature teeth that have shorter root systems. This treatment involves restoring the blood flow to a tooth in order to keep the tissues and nerves (pulp) within a tooth alive and healthy.
What are the Benefits of Regenerative Endodontics?

Regenerative endodontics offers a wide variety of benefits, but the overarching advantage that leads to several other benefits is that this treatment route has the ability to preserve your natural tooth’s complete structure. In addition to having an incredibly high success rate, you won’t have to worry about needing to undergo retreatment down the road or one day needing to extract your compromised tooth. That’s because our team will be able to keep your pulp alive, well, and healthy, and there’s no replacement that compares to your home-grown pearly white.
